MORRIS CERTIFICATE IN EQUITY AND DIVERSITY
The Morris Certificate in Equity and Diversity is a series of six workshops designed to support faculty, staff, and student development in the areas of intercultural competence and what is called “interactional diversity,” or the capacity to interact effectively with people from a variety of backgrounds and identities, ensuring that we all contribute to a vibrant and supportive experience for all members of the UMM community. A corps of trained facilitators offers the series annually, free of charge. Workshops can be completed in any order and at your own pace. Upon completion of the series, you will receive a certificate and may pursue additional training to become a facilitator. Watch your in-box for news about upcoming workshops.
EQUITY AND DIVERSITY ADVOCATE PILOT PROGRAM
The Equity and Diversity Advocate program, begun in 2018, is a pilot project to ensure that issues of equity and diversity are integral to Morris’ system of shared governance. Anyone can volunteer to serve as an EDA for their committee, and upon doing so will be asked to complete a two-hour training workshop on data, problem-solving, and communication skills around equity and diversity issues at Morris.
The University of Minnesota, Morris—UMM and the Office for Equity and Diversity (OED) are pleased to announce the Diversity Pre-Doctoral Teaching Fellowship Program which provides U of MN doctoral candidates the opportunity to teach, write their dissertation, and be mentored by senior faculty. The goal of this program is to support and mentor pre-doctoral students, particularly those who are under-represented within the ranks of faculty. This program seeks talented, dedicated doctoral students committed to excellence in undergraduate education to serve as fellows each academic year on the University of Minnesota, Morris campus. Up to two fellowships will be awarded.
