Summer Student Counseling Availability
The Student Counseling Office will be open during the summer months. Our office will have counselors available to see students for counseling sessions on Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday each week. Students can make an appointment by calling the Student Counseling Office (320-589-6060) or by coming to the office Monday – Thursday 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. or 1:00 – 4:30 p.m.
Let’s Talk Consultations
Let's Talk is not formal counseling; it is a drop-in service where students can have an informal ten-minute consultation with a counselor.
Summer Let’s Talk Hours:
- Thursdays starting May 23rd: 1:00-3:00 p.m. in the Spooner Hall Veranda
- Fridays starting July 26th: 12:00 - 2:00 pm in the Multi-Ethnic Resource Center Conference Room.
Please know that office staff will be reduced during the summer months. If the office is closed or you receive a voicemail, you can leave a message and your message will be returned as soon as someone is back in the office.
For Mental Health Emergencies, please call 911

What Happens in a First Session?
When you make an appointment at Student Counseling they will ask you to fill out paperwork before seeing a counselor. This paperwork needs to be filled out each academic year. We ask that you allow yourself 15 minutes before your initial/first session to fill out the paperwork, come into the office when you have 15 minutes during open office hours (8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., 1:00-4:30 p.m.), or print and fill out the paperwork in advance. Appointments will be made with the first available intake counselor. In the initial/first session, the intake counselor will ask you a variety of questions about you, your life and what is bothering you. The discussion will help the intake counselor understand you and your concerns and make an initial assessment of your situation. The need for future sessions will be discussed in the initial/first session.
