Someplace Safe & Advocacy

Someplace Safe, a community partner with an office in Morris and surrounding communities, offers advocacy services for sexual assault, relationship violence, and stalking. Services include 24-hour crisis line, crisis intervention, information, and referrals; advocacy for medical exams and legal proceedings; support groups; training and education, safe lodging; criminal justice monitoring and policy development.

Advocates are trained staff and volunteers who offer help for victims, survivors, family, and friends who have been affected by violence. Advocates are available to:

Assist survivors of abuse or assault at the hospital or law enforcement center

Guide and assist in locating resources (security and protection, food, clothing, household items, personal supplies, Thrift Store Vouchers, etc.)

Offer information on Community and Government Resources

Provide Legal Advocacy and/or Criminal Justice System Intervention (assistance with Protection Orders, Restitution, Reparations or visitation arrangements; accompaniment to or tracking of criminal process; court advocacy, etc.)

Office Hours

Someplace Safe will not be holding office hours during currently due to COVID-19. Someplace Safe continues to have a strong collaborative working connection with Student Counseling. You are free to access Someplace Safe on your own, or Student Counseling staff can assist you in connecting with them and supporting that process to ensure you are able to safely get your support and advocacy needs met.
